Tungsten is a metal with many qualities
- Its melting point is 3,422°C and this is the highest one compared to other pure metals.
- Its boiling point is 5,555°C. Its tensile strength is the highest of all metals (tensile strength 550 to 620 N/mm² up to 1920 N/mm²)
- Expands slightly when heated
- Tungsten is found usually in the form of scheelite. The chemical composition is CaWo4 with a content of tungsten of 80%. Scheelite is fluorescent under UV light and can, therefore, be easily localised in the host rock.
